The Colours of the Rainbow

Our world is a wonderful venue for our dreams and aspirations. It abounds with breathtaking scenery. Coastlines of ragged rock and raking cliffs, surging seas of whimsical temperament, skies of ever-changing colour and mood, and nightly spectacles of glittering mystery and silent serenity. At every turn it is full of promise and pitfalls. At every breath, it can astound and astonish, bewitch and beguile - and for every gracious deed and decent being, there is a dark and devious endeavour and event. Drama fills every second of every day, of the world at large we can see and the microscopic world we cannot.

Creation and cessation, danger and delight, misery and mirth, all of us balance precariously between wonder and woe, and it takes but the gentlest undercurrent to turn us from one to the other. This is everyday life. Everyday life is extraordinary. The simplest life is an epic journey.

Fiction will never rival fact, but a writer should do everything in their power to evoke the vagaries of this world we either slave or aspire to. Conflict is innate. Man likes to be stronger, faster, smarter, sexier, richer. Man will always want what others have, and they do not. Man will always seek to achieve the impossible, master the untameable and worship the unfathomable.

Imagination is more important than knowledge.
Knowledge is limited.
Imagination encircles the world.
